WHO WE ARE + What We Do

Inspired by women in The Samburu District of Africa, Give A Kit is a non-profit created in efforts to keep young girls in school by building feminine hygiene kits and creating informational workshops for personal hygiene and self esteem. The goal is to help girls feel prepared and comfortable with their menstrual health by pairing knowledge with resources.

Give A Kit’s creator, Tiffany, is based in Kansas City, MO and volunteered alongside the Thorn Tree Project in 2017 with her mentor, Andrea. It was during this trip that Tiffany became involved with the Samburu community by providing kits and teaching classes to the girls at the Sere-Olipi School. She’s pictured above and is the bold, spirited leader of Give A Kit.

Our Mission

Give a Kit strives to advance feminine sanitation and is an education based program. In this specific area, the advancement of education can help girls avoid early marriages which can create a larger opportunity to become a leader within the community. This is key to continuing their long held traditions as their society advances.

the 2017 project

In January 2017, money was raised to create 40 kits that were donated to the young girls in the Sere-Olipi Primary School. We held a workshop that spoke about menstrual cycles and provided information on how to improve their personal hygiene with the new products they received. We paired this with the topic of self esteem and confidence to help build women empowerment in the community.

the 2019 project

Tiffany will be traveling back to the visit the girls of the Sere-Olipi School. The goal is to provide 40 kits for this trip that contain more intentional, reusable items for the young women. A kit will include a pair of menstrual underwear specifically made for teens and young women, detergent soap sheets to wash their underwear, a soft cotton washcloth, moisturizing African black soap and hot water bottle to ease any cramping discomfort. Tiffany will also be holding a class on what’s in the kits, how to use the items and speak on women empowerment.
